3. Plan time, owners, and risks

Work through the guide, keep private notes, and mark this lesson complete when you’re ready.

01

Plan using real capacity

Estimate work with the people who will do it. Include time for review, coordination, and unexpected issues. A date based only on best-case estimates can create pressure without making delivery more likely.

02

Identify risks early

A risk is an uncertain event that could affect the outcome. Describe its likelihood, impact, early warning sign, and response. A risk owner should watch the warning sign and know when to raise it.

03

Try it

Create a simple plan with task, owner, estimate, dependency, and due date. Add two risks and name the first sign you would watch for each.

Key takeaways

  • Plan against actual team capacity.
  • Include coordination and review effort.
  • Give risks an owner and an observable warning sign.
